Toma Piemontese is a mountain cheese made from cow's milk from Piedmont in Italy. Toma Piemontese is protected in Italy as a DOC cheese (Denominazione di origine controllata). Since 1996, Toma Piemontese has also been recognised throughout the EU as a DOP cheese (Denominazione d'Origine Protetta; protected designation of origin, PDO).
This semi-hard cheese embodies true Piedmontese joie de vivre. Its aroma is pleasantly aromatic in a noble way, fruity, fresh and full of the delicate flavours of mountain milk.
Piedmont can look back on a very long cheese tradition. The Celts who settled there already made cheese. Since then, it has been produced in small village cheese dairies in the traditional way - without any additives and with a lot of patience and craftsmanship. The list of ingredients is manageable, only milk, salt and a little rennet are used.
Its aroma is elegantly pleasantly fine-spicy, fruity, fresh and full of subtle flavours of mountain milk.
A perfect mountain cheese for paninis, in general for gratinating, as part of a cheese platter for snacking and simply with delicious bread.
