Particularities: 


Pesto Genovese is the speciality from Liguria par excellence! And this pesto tastes simply super good. Rich green and irresistibly fresh taste. For this, this Pesto Genovese from La Favorita was chosen by the "FAZ" as the test winner of the big pesto test. The food fair "Winter Fancy Food Show" in San Francisco also awarded this pesto and "La Grande Epicerie De Paris" calls this pesto one of their favourite products. 

By the way, the basil used for this pesto is DOP, which means that the basil must come exclusively from the Genoa region. 

Prepared with fresh cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and a dash of sweet balsamic, fans of Italian cuisine will get their money's worth. You can also refine the Pesto La Favorita with lemon olive oil. This tastes fresh and is delicious. If you want to cook an authentic Ligurian recipe, you can enjoy the Pesto Genovese La Favorita together with Trofie, a Ligurian pasta variation.

La Favorita

The producer La Favorita was founded shortly after the end of the Second World War and produces, among other products, fantastic Pesto Genovese. Their Pesto Genovese is made from 100% Ligurian balsamic. Thanks to the particularly mild climate, the sun and the sea breeze, which play such an important role, the entire region of Liguria is ideal for growing particularly aromatic basil. La Favorita does not use chemical fertilisers at all.  

After the basil needs about 3 weeks to grow, the basil leaves are picked by hand, carefully selected and processed to avoid crushing and damage. Only the top leaves of the plant are harvested, as these are the most aromatic and characteristic for Pesto Genovese. After harvesting, the basil is immediately taken to the nearby factory to be processed. The production is so gentle that the taste of the basil is almost completely preserved in its originality. Now traditional ingredients such as olive oil, pine nuts and cashews are added and the result is an original Pesto Genovese from La Favorita that definitely plays in an upper league.  

The use of preservatives and the stretching of the pesto by means of potato flakes is completely avoided.
